Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School in 1992 began her studies in marine biology. Bossard began her professional career in the commercial seafood industry at the age of 1999, after she began working as a crew member on the F/V Sunset 65' halibut schooner turned to salmon tender with Murat Aritan. She has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard is currently engaged to Aritan and the couple has joined together to assert their rights to the industry. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of renewable seafood resources. Otolith was created by Philadelphia in the year 2000 by Bella Bossard and is currently the mother of two children who are aged three and one Bossard. She and her husband are separated by five months, and she is able to concentrate on her finances as well as her environmental goals. Bossard with her son Andre 10, and Isabella 12 make their annual return for a visit to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. Two months after fishing with hooks, lines and a 42-foot salmon trolling machine they have joined Aritan and then sold local processors of seafood.
